US Capital Police Officer Arrested for Trying to Help Daesh
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) arrested Erick Jamal Hendricks from the US state of North Carolina for trying to help the Islamic State (ISIL or Daesh) coordinate an attack in the United States, the Department of Justice said in a press release on Thursday.

"Hendricks allegedly told another person that his goal was to create a sleeper cell to be trained and housed at a secure compound that would conduct attacks in the United States,” the release stated.

The release noted 35-year-old Hendricks claimed to have ten members signed up for his cell.

Moreover, according to the release, Hendricks was interested in targeting military members whose information was released by Daesh and the woman who organized a 'Draw Prophet Mohammad" contest in the US state of Texas.

Hendricks is charged with conspiring to provide material support to Daesh. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.

The Islamic State, or Daesh in Arabic, is a terrorist group banned in Russia, the United States and many other countries.
