WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — On Wednesday, reports emerged that thousands of documents identifying 22,000 Daesh supporters in more than 50 countries were leaked to Britain’s Sky News television channel. A former Free Syrian Army convert to Daesh, who called himself Abu Hamed, is said to have handed over the data on a memory stick.

"We are aware of these reports but are currently unable to confirm the authenticity of these documents," the official said.

The documents received by the TV channel resembled enrollment forms, consisting of more than 20 questions about Daesh supporters' relatives, contact numbers, areas of expertise, skills and other personal data. The lists reportedly feature previously unknown Daesh supporters.
