WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The United States could benefit from a positive relationship with the governments of Russia and China, US presidential hopeful Donald Trump said on Tuesday.
"I think it would be great if we had a good relationship with Russia, I think it would be great if we had a good relationship with China," Trump stated in an interview with Fox Business News. "I bring people together, I don't divide."
Relations between Moscow and Washington soured in 2014 following Crimea's reunification with Russia and beginning of a military conflict in Ukraine's eastern regions of Donetsk and Lugansk. However, the two nations continue to cooperate in a number of fields, including counterterrorism.
In December, US Secretary of State John Kerry said the United States is not looking for confrontation and wants to see a strong and powerful Russia, which contributes to the resolution of global issues.
