"The State Department has agreed to comb through 29,000 pages of emails from a top aide to Hillary Clinton and release batches of those emails every month," The Hill reported on Tuesday.
The report revealed that in a US federal court filing on Monday, the State Department acknowledged that it would process at least 400 pages of emails from Abedin’s personal, non-government email account per month.
The State Department agreed to the move in response to a lawsuit launched by the US conservative watchdog group Judicial Watch. The material will start to be released on March 1 and continue at a rate of 400 pages released per month until April 30, 2017, the report said.
The agreement is likely to lead to new scrutiny on Abedin, who served as Clinton’s deputy chief of staff while she was secretary of state, and who worked simultaneously for the US government and an outside consulting firm at the same time, the report noted.
