NEW YORK (Sputnik) – A former employee of the Federal Reserve Bank of New York (FRBNY) pled guilty to the theft of confidential information, the US Attorney’s Office said in a statement.
"[Jason] Gross, 37, of Bellmore, New York, pled guilty to one count of theft of government property," the US Attorney’s Office said on Wednesday.
Prosecutors allege that in 2014, Gross accessed confidential data at the FRBNY without authorization, and sent the information to a former FRBNY supervisor who was then employed at the Goldman Sachs investment bank.
Court documents show that on numerous occasions Bansal distributed the classified information to co-workers while directing recipients to "Please don’t distribute."
Gross faces a maximum sentence of one year in prison.
