WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Butte Mountain Road fire in San Andreas, California continues after it decimated 71,000 acres, but firefighters have been able to contain 30 percent of the fire, according to local media reports on Monday.
KTVU Fox reported that around 135 houses have been eviscerated with 6,400 structures at the mercy of the blaze.
The fire forced many people in San Andreas to leave their homes despite some evacuation orders being lifted by the authorities.
On September 9, a fire broke out on Butte Mountain Road eliminating 15 structures and getting closer to destroying 6,400 others.
The potential hazard to infrastructure and people pushed California Governor Jerry Brown to declare a state of emergency in that area.
Over 4,500 firefighters, local media reported, have been fighting the fire.
