MOSCOW (Sputnik) — US law enforcement agencies have arrested a man, who is accused of plotting to set off a bomb at a Kansas City memorial dedicated to the memory of victims of the September 11, 2001 attacks, the US Department of Justice said Thursday.
"US Attorney A. Lee Bentley III announces the arrest of Joshua Ryne Goldberg, 20, of Orange Park, Florida, for distributing information relating to explosives, destructive devices and weapons of mass destruction," the ministry said.
If found guilty, Goldberg could face up to 20 years in prison.
Through online communication, Goldberg provided the information to the CHS from July to September 2015.
"Goldberg instructed the CHS to place the bomb at an upcoming memorial in Kansas City, Missouri, that was commemorating the Sept. 11, 2001 attacks," the ministry said.
September 11 marks the 14th anniversary of the terrorist attacks, for which al-Qaeda claimed responsibility. Terrorists seized four passenger planes, crashing two into the World Trade Center, which led to the collapse of the twin towers, and another plane into the Pentagon while the fourth plane crashed in a field in Pennsylvania after being initially directed toward Washington D.C. Some 3,000 people lost their lives in the terrorist attack.
