MOSCOW (Sputnik) — A potential presidential candidate in the Republican Party presidential primaries, Ben Carson, said on Wednesday that homosexuality is a free choice citing prisoners as an example.
"…. a lot of people who go into prison go into prison straight — and when they come out, they're gay. So, did something happen while they were in there? Ask yourself that question," Carson told CNN.
Carson's claim contradicts the opinion of leading medical organizations in the United States, including the American Psychological Association that say that no findings exist that permit scientists to conclude that sexual orientation is determined by any particular factor or factors.
Carson has long been a vocal critic of gay marriage. In 2013, he compared gay marriage to bestiality and pedophilia, causing uproar in US society.
