MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The US Department of Justice (DoJ) is preparing to file a lawsuit against the Ferguson police over racially discriminatory tactics, CNN reported.
According to the network, the DoJ is not expected to charge police officer Darren Wilson, who shot an unarmed black teenager, but will reveal patterns of discriminatory tactics employed by the Ferguson police.
Unnamed sources were quoted by CNN as saying that the DoJ would sue the police to revise the tactics they used, if the police department refused to do so willingly.
The action by the Department of Justice would seek court supervision of changes to be implemented at the Ferguson police.
In August, 2014, Ferguson was at the centre of global attention when a white police officer, Wilson, shot and killed a black teenager, Michael Brown, sparking protests across the United States against racism and police brutality.
