    US Secretary of State John Kerry arrived in Kiev to discuss reforms and de-escalation in Ukraine’s war-torn east.

    MOSCOW, (Sputnik) — During his brief visit to Kiev Secretary Kerry pledged an additional $16.4 million in humanitarian assistance to Ukraine.

    The main beneficiaries will be the victims of the armed conflict in eastern Ukraine, including forced migrants, Agence France Presse reports, quoting a State Department official in Washington.

    John Kerry arrived in the Ukrainian capital on Thursday for talks with President Petro Poroshenko, Prime Minister Arseny Yatsenyuk, Foreign Minister Pavlo Klimkin and members of the Verkhovnaya Rada parliament.

    The negotiations will focus on speeding up reforms and easing  ease military tensions in Ukraine’s eastern Donbass region, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry said in a statement Thursday.
