MOSCOW, January 4 (Sputnik) — An individual suspected of murder has buttoned up in a motel room in the US city of Charlotte, North Carolina, possibly taking hostages, WBTV channel reported Sunday.
According to the TV channel, the local police and SWAT team members are already at the scene of the hostage situation. Nearby streets have been closed as a precaution measure and the motel has been evacuated.
The standoff began as a car connected to a murder in Greenville, South Carolina was found at the America's Best Motel's parking lot Saturday night.
The name and age of the individual as well as his demands and the number of hostages are yet unknown.
