Russia’s Vera Zvonareva has climbed to ninth position in the new Women Tennis Association (WTA) top 10 ranking after reaching her first Grand Slam final.

 

Russia’s Vera Zvonareva has climbed to ninth position in the new Women Tennis Association (WTA) top 10 ranking after reaching her first Grand Slam final.

Former world no. 5 in February 2009, Zvonareva rose from no. 21 on the WTA list after advancing to the Wimbledon women's final on Saturday, where she was beaten 6-3, 6-2 by the top-ranked U.S. tennis champion Serena Williams.

Venus Williams (United States) moved from her position no. 2 to no. 4 after losing in the semifinal to Bulgaria's Tsvetana Pironkova.

Jelena Jankovic of Serbia climbed to second place from third.

The current Top-10 is as follows:
