Russia’s Evgenia Medvedeva has set a new world record in women’s figure skating short program at the Grand Prix Final in France.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Medvedeva received 79.21 points in Marseille on Friday, beating the previous record set by Japan’s Mao Asada in 2014, when she got 78.66 points at World Championships.

Medvedeva was Grand Prix Final champion last year and became World champion, as well as European and Russian national champion this year.

This year’s Grand Prix Final will end on Saturday. Medvedeva, 17, has a high chance of becoming Grand Prix Final champion again.
