MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) will have enough time to conduct the necessary arbitration procedure before the Paralympic Games if it receives an appeal from the Russian Paralympic Committee (RPC) over its ban by the international body, a CAS spokesperson told Sputnik on Wednesday.

On August 7, the International Paralympic Committee (IPC) said it had decided to impose a blanket ban on Russian Paralympic athletes. The RPC has until August 28 to appeal the decision. The RPC, however, has not yet decided whether to contest the ban with the CAS or another judicial body.

"The CAS did not receive any appeal in relation to this matter so far," the spokesperson said. "There is enough time to have an arbitration procedure conducted prior to the start of the Paralympic Games."
