MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The silver medalist of the 2012 London Olympics was suspended last month by the UK Anti-Doping Agency (UKAD) pending disciplinary measures, including a possible four-year ban, the Daily Mail newspaper reported Monday.

With the help of the British Cycling Federation, Armitstead appealed the suspension with the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), which overturned UKAD’s decision, saying it was an administrative error.

"I have always been and will always be a clean athlete," Armitstead wrote in a statement quoted by the UK outlet. "I am very much looking forward to putting this situation behind me and firmly focusing on Rio."

The 27-year-old will compete at the Olympic women's road race in Rio, Brazil, on August 7. She is touted as one of the favorites to win the gold medal.
