FIFA’s Independent Ethics Committee may suspend Association’s President Gianni Infantino for 90 days over deleting records of a FIFA Board meeting, media reported Thursday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Such information was reportedly obtained from private e-mails between FIFA officials, seen by a Die Welt newspaper reporter.

The FIFA Board meeting in question was reportedly held during the 66th congress of the organization held in Mexico on May 12-13. The head of FIFA’s legal department Marco Villiger reportedly confirmed to the paper that Infantino demanded to delete the records, and that it has been done.

According to the German daily, the agenda of the FIFA meeting included potential discharge of Domenico Scala, the chairman of Audit and Compliance Committee, who later resigned in protest against the decisions made at the Congress, which, in his view, negate the achievements of the reform process in the organization.
