LONDON (Sputnik) – FIFA President Joseph Blatter may attend the FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada in 2015, but he will not be welcome, UK Minister for Sport Tracey Crouch said Wednesday.
“He may be going, but he won't be welcome,” Crouch said during parliamentary meeting dedicated to the relationship with Great Britain and FIFA.
In late May, several FIFA officials were arrested in Switzerland under a US anti-corruption warrant as a total of 14 world football figures were indicted by the US Justice Department on charges of money laundering, wire fraud and racketeering. FIFA President Joseph Blatter announced his resignation just four days after he was reelected as the head of the football association.
FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada is scheduled for June 6 through July 5.
