Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will on Friday head a meeting on preparations for the 2014 Winter Olympic in Sochi.

 Russian President Dmitry Medvedev will on Friday head a meeting on preparations for the 2014 Winter Olympic in Sochi.

The meeting of the organizing committee for the Games will be held at the Luzhniki sports arena in south west Moscow as part of the Russia is a Sport Power forum, which comes as part of celebrations for the 30th anniversary of the 1980 Moscow Olympics.

The 2014 Olympics in Sochi is expected to cost about 185 billion rubles ($6.1 billion), including 80 billion from government funds, with the rest coming from investors, Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Kozak said earlier. He also said preparations were going well.

On Friday, Medvedev is expected to attend the World Streetball Championship in which 18 teams will participate, including sides from France, the United States, Spain, Italy, Lithuania, Serbia.

A show dedicated to the 30th anniversary of the 1980 Moscow Olympics will be held at the Luzhniki sports center on Friday evening.

Over 90 1980 Olympic champions will attend and will be awarded special medals. An Olympic torch monument will also be unveiled.
