MOSCOW, October 6 (RIA Novosti) - The 2007 Kremlin Cup tennis tournament, which kicks off Saturday in Moscow, proves that Russia has vast experience in hosting major international sports events, the Russian president said.

One of the major annual tennis tournaments with $2,340,000 of prize money up for grabs is held at the Olimpiisky Stadium in Moscow and runs from October 6 to 14.

"I am sure that the tournament will be not only a real sports holiday but will once again prove that Russia has vast experience in hosting such large-scale events," Vladimir Putin said.

The Kremlin Cup, held this year for the 18th time, is Russia's first ever international professional tournament and is included in the ATP (Association of Tennis Professionals) tennis tournaments under the International Series category.
