Russian Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media Alexei Volin said modern journalists are exposed to pressure from governments and businesses.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Modern journalists face numerous attempts of manipulation on the part of different actors, including government structures and businesses, and sometimes become the subject of bullying, Russian Deputy Minister of Communications and Mass Media Alexei Volin said Monday.

"There are many attempts to manipulate a journalist today — on the part of the centers that try to spread disinformation, on the part of the governmental structures, business and often on the part of the public opinion, when a journalist is a subject of bullying, ostracism, and often faces censorship. The example is censorship lists," Volin said.

He reminded that journalists face entry bans to different countries, while certain media outlets are banned from functioning in some states.

The international media forum is taking place in Russia's capital on June 6-7. It is hosted by the Rossiya Segodnya International Information Agency and is part of the 75th anniversary of the Soviet Information Bureau. Media experts from over 30 countries of the world take part in the forum.
