MOSCOW, January 22 (Sputnik) — Smartphone messaging service WhatsApp have finally become available on web browsers, according to the Independent.
"Our web client is simply an extension of your phone: the web browser mirrors conversations and messages from your mobile device — this means all of your messages still live on your phone," WhatsApp CEO Jan Koum wrote on his Facebook page.
The user’s phone, however, must remain connected to the Internet in order for the application to work, and the client is currently only available on Android, the newspaper adds.
WhatsApp was purchased by Facebook in 2014 and is one of the most popular messenger services in the world, with over 700 million users who send about 30 billion messages per day.
