Russian tennis star Maria Sharapova, while returning from the Wuhan Open, posted a Tweet on Thursday after catching a passenger in front of her reading about her in a local Chinese paper.
“Hey buddy, I’m right behind you... :),” Sharapova joked in the image caption.
The Tweet resulted in much ado about nothing after Twitter users began questioning why a tennis star like Sharapova would fly coach, given her present status as the highest paid female athlete in the world.
Users also asked how the 6’ 2” tennis star could even fit in the cramped seating conditions.
Sharapova, currently ranked fourth in the world, was returning from the Wuhan Open, where she had been knocked out the competition by Swiss player Timea Bacsinszky in the third round earlier this week.
