Belgium Tops List of Most Hackable States

Belgium is the country most vulnerable to hacking attacks, National Exposure Index by a US Internet company revealed in a report.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Belgium is followed by Tajikistan, Samoa and Australia as the most vulnerable countries. The bottom 50th position of the ranking is occupied by Vietnam at the least exposed state.

"Given the increased reliance we all have on the internet for everything from ecommerce, to monitoring the power grid, to adjusting our thermostats, we wanted to…understand overall internet threat exposure at both a general level and at a country/region level," the Rapid7 company said.

The research found out that email, file transferring and remote control protocols generally remain unencrypted.

The firm added there was a correlation between the GDP of a nation, overall Internet "presence" in terms of services offered, and the exposure of insecure services. It said the most exposed nations included states with the largest GDPs.
