Russia should be among leaders in the aircraft construction and will continue its activities aimed at renewal of country's civil aviation fleet, Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev said Wednesday at presentation ceremony of MS-21 aircraft.

IRKUTSK (Russia), (Sputnik) — The MS-21 is a Russian twin-engine short- and mid-range airliner with a capacity for 150-212 passengers. The first planes in the new series are set to be delivered in the end of 2018.

"New project in aircraft construction is not a cheap thing for obvious reasons. In general there are only a few states where such construction is developed. It is the so-called top league. And we should leave this 'top league' by no means. That's why we are working for the future and we will continue the renewal of Russia's civil aviation fleet," Medvedev said.
