The Shanghai Cooperation Organization plans to put forward a joint initiative to agree on universal rules in international information security in order to quell the dissemination of radicalism, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Thursday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) – Lavrov said that putting an end to the use of information technology to spread radical ideas was key on the SCO’s agenda.

“We will jointly put forward the SCO’s initiative to the United Nations on agreeing the universal rules of conduct in the area of international information security,” Lavrov said at the SCO’s conference on regional security in Moscow.

“The quelling of using modern technology to disseminate radical ideas, first and foremost among the youth, is on top of the list of today’s plan in information security.”
