MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the Russian Foreign Ministry’s director of the Department for New Challenges and Threats said that over 3,200 Russian nationals have left the country to join the ranks of the Daesh terrorist group in the crisis-torn Syria and Iraq since the beginning of the conflict.
"I believe the fears that Daesh militants in Syria and Iraq will continue their illegal activities when they return to their homeland are justified," Viktor Ozerov, chairman of the Federation Council Committee on Defense and Security, said.
