Crimea’s head Sergey Aksenov said that deputies of Italy and Germany want to visit the peninsula.
"After the visit of the French delegation, the desire [to come to the peninsula] was also expressed by German and Italian deputies. I am sure that in the near future, we will have not only Italian, but a lot of other delegations until the end of the year," Aksenov said.
However, the politician said that there is yet no official evidence of forthcoming visits of European politicians. Aksenov also added that after their trips to Crimea, French MPs and former Japanese Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama became convinced that there are no security threats in the peninsula and that the safety of the local population is guaranteed.
The French delegation visited Crimea on July 23-24 to observe the situation and the mood of the population on the peninsula. They met local officials and talked to the residents in a number of Crimea’s cities.
Shortly after that, several Italian, German, Portuguese and Polish politicians expressed their willingness to pay similar visits as well.
