GORKI, August 18 (RIA Novosti) – Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich said Monday that goods that fall under Russia’s food embargo would be substituted within two or three weeks.

"Anyway, this [import substitution] issue will be resolved within two or three weeks," he said.

The official added that prices on the Russian food market are constantly being monitored.

"The suppliers list will increase significantly and thus we hope there will be no drastic increase in prices in the next two to three months, and actually that it will not happen at all, and the situation will remain stable," Dvorkovich said at a meeting of Russian Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev and his deputies.

Dvorkovich said that some regions had been still facing an increase in prices on some goods. This happens because sometimes two or three days are required to replace these products.

"Nevertheless, networks and suppliers are already dealing with the matter, the networks have reduced the requirements for Russian manufacturers and suppliers," Dvorkovich said.

On August 6, Russian President Vladimir Putin signed a bill on economic measures to protect the country’s security. The decree went into effect on August 7 and banned for one year imports of agricultural and food products from the countries that had imposed sanctions on Russia over the Ukrainian crisis. The list includes meat, poultry and milk products as well as fruits and vegetables from the United States, the European Union, Canada, Australia and Norway.
