Myanmar Government accused of ethnic cleansing of Muslim minority in Rohingya villages; Donald Trump plans to enhance the US’ cybersecurity infrastructure; and, Philippines congress pressured to throw out bill lowering age of legal responsibility.

Today’s headlines include:

Tens of thousands of people have been displaced from their homes in Myanmar’s Rhakaine state amid the most serious escalation of violence in over 3 years. Many are fleeing to neighboring Bangladesh, and Aung San Suu Kyi’s 8-month old administration is facing its toughest test yet. We speak to Phil Robertson from Human Rights Watch.

US President-Elect Donald Trump has said that he plans to enhance America’s defense capabilities with a series of changes to the US’ cybersecurity infrastructure.  We speak to Mike Lyons, Military Analyst from Truman National Security Project, and John McAfee, technology pioneer and founder of McAfee securities, about what these changes might be, and the bigger questions about the future of cyber warfare.

November in the Philippines is celebrated as children’s month, though this week human rights groups are calling on the Filipino congress to throw out a bill which would lower the age of legal responsibility to just nine years of age.

The Japanese military has almost finished its journey toward normalization, after being given authorization to use lethal force if necessary while on a peacekeeping mission in South Sudan. We speak to Ra Mason, Lecturer in International Relations and Japanese foreign policy at the University of East Anglia, about why this is such an unprecedented move.
