MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Russia is proposing to the United States to restart work in a number of sectors, but has not heard a response yet, Ryabkov said.
"We are proposing to restart work in a number of fields, and there has been no response yet. We want to continue [dialogue] on Syria, we are ready for dialogue on Ukraine, on arms control, on non-proliferation of weapons of mass destruction, on strategic stability," he said.
The deputy foreign minister stressed that the Russian side was not the one halting the dialogue.
"There is no a single issue on which we have said: 'This is it, because you adopted this law or you are implementing a policy that is hostile toward Russia, we are not going to do this anymore.' That did not happen," Ryabkov said.
Last week, US President Donald Trump signed into law a bill imposing new sanctions against Russia, Iran and North Korea. The punitive measures over Russia's alleged US election meddling target defense and energy sectors. In particular, they give the president an option of imposing sanctions on those who invest in the construction of Russian energy export pipelines. Under the new legislation, the president will require the approval of the Congress to lift the sanctions.
