US Envoy Nominee Not Ruling Out New Sanctions on Chinese Entities Over N Korea
15:16 GMT 02.05.2017 (Updated: 11:40 GMT 06.08.2022) Terry Branstad, a nominee for US ambassador to China, did not exclude during his confirmation hearing on Tuesday the possibility of imposing secondary sanctions on Chinese entities if they violate existing policy on North Korea.
WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — When asked if he believed there was a role for US secondary sanctions on Chinese entities should China failed to live up to its commitments Branstad said.
"I think there may well be. Obviously, that decision will be made by the administration."
