Crowley was an analyst at Fox News from 1998 to 2004, and has been a contributor to the staunchly conservative network since 2008. According to Talking Points Memo, her contract with the network has been terminated.
She will join fellow former Fox News analyst Kathleen Troia "KT" McFarland, who will serve as deputy national security advisor to Trump’s NSC. Crowley holds a Ph.D. from Columbia University in international relations and worked for former President Richard Nixon as a communications director and foreign policy assistant, from 1990 until Nixon died in 1994.
In October 2015, Crowley created social media controversy by tweeting a picture of herself standing next to the Berlin Wall with the caption, "Walls work," seemingly a reference to Trump’s infamous call to build a wall partitioning off Mexico from the US, to stop the flow of illegal immigrants.

The Berlin Wall was constructed in 1961 to separate communist East Germany from democratic West Germany, dividing families and driving both countries into deep social and economic turmoil in the process.
Crowley celebrated her appointment by stating, "I am deeply honored, humbled and grateful to be asked by the President-elect to join the extraordinary national security team he is assembling…With vision, courage and moral clarity, he is committed fully to re-establishing America's singular place in the world. He is also committed to selecting the best people for the jobs of keeping the American people safe and the country secure. It will be a great privilege to serve with them."
