Kerry, Lavrov Discuss Efforts to Achieve Ceasefire in Syria's Aleppo
MOSCOW (Sputnik) – On December 2, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and his US counterpart John Kerry agreed on the plan, which will allow all militants without exception to leave Eastern Aleppo, at a meeting in Rome.

On Tuesday, the United States notified Russia that consultations on Aleppo cannot begin as Washington withdrew its current settlement proposals.

"Undoubtedly, we called and are calling for continuation of contacts, contacts are being held at the level of foreign ministers in line with understanding that was expressed by presidents of the both countries [Russia and the United States] when they had a brief conversation in Lima. Any kind of pauses in this process are absolutely unacceptable, that is why the work is being carried out," Peskov told journalists answering the question about expectations concerning talks between Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and US Secretary of State John Kerry.
