The Syrian opposition High Negotiations Committee (HNC) has no information about alleged Turkey-mediated talks between the Syrian opposition and Russia on the cessation of hostilities in Aleppo, the HNC spokesman said Thursday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Earlier in the day, the Financial Times newspaper reported that Syrian opposition leaders were in Turkey-mediated negotiations with Moscow on cessation of hostilities in Aleppo, which did not involve the United States, citing the representatives of the opposition.

"I do not have such information," Riyad Naasan Agha told RIA Novosti in a phone call.

Western Media Applies 'Double Standards' When Reporting on Situation in Aleppo
The situation in the war-torn Aleppo has been deteriorating steadily over the recent months. Thousands of residents are believed to be trapped in the besieged eastern parts of Aleppo with no access to food or water. There have been several attempts to establish a ceasefire, however the bids have failed.

On Tuesday, the Russian Defense Ministry said that the Syrian government forces had cleared almost half of eastern Aleppo from militant strongholds, liberating tens of thousands local residents.
