Japanese PM Abe Says 'Honored' to Meet Trump First Among Foreign Leaders
TOKYO (Sputnik) – The Thursday meeting at Trump Tower "renewed my conviction that together with Mr. Trump I will be able to establish a relationship of trust," Abe said as quoted by The Wall Street Journal, stressing that Trump was somebody "whom I can have great confidence in."

The Japanese prime minister did not give any details about the meeting, saying that various issues were discussed and that the conversation was candid.

Earlier this week, Abe said he was "honored" that he would the first of the foreign leaders to meet with Trump.

Trump managed to come ahead of his Democratic rival Hillary Clinton in the US presidential elections, securing more than the 270 electoral votes needed for victory.

Trump's inauguration as US president will take place on January 20, 2017.
