BEIJING (Sputnik) – China hopes that the new US administration will support healthy relations with China, Chinese Foreign Ministry Spokesperson Lu Kang said Wednesday.

"We monitor the results of the US presidential elections. We hope for cooperation with the new administration to ensure healthy and stable development of the US-Chinese relations for the good of both states’ people and the whole world," Lu told reporters.

Republican candidate Donald Trump has been elected the next president of the United States in November 8 election. Trump has gained 276 electoral votes, more than 270 needed to win the US presidency.
