The US-Russian deal on Syrian truce will put the nation back on track toward a political solution, the only way out of the crisis, French Foreign Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said Saturday.

PARIS (Sputnik) — A nationwide ceasefire, agreed on Friday by the Russian and US foreign ministers, is due to begin in Syria at sunset on Monday.

"I welcome the US-Russian accord on a truce in Syria. It is crucial now that this agreement is implemented in full and respected," Ayrault said in a statement.

He emphasized that airstrikes on civilians must end, humanitarian access to besieged areas secured and the suffering in the divided Syrian city of Aleppo stopped for the arrangement to open a way for political settlement in Syria.
