Sergei Lavrov said that Russia separates its territorial dispute with Japan and the peace treaty issue.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) Russia separates its territorial dispute with Japan and the peace treaty issue, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Tuesday.

"We do not believe that a peace treaty is synonymous with a solution to the territorial dispute. This is a step that is necessary to ensure that our relations are normal not only de facto, but also legally," Lavrov told reporters.
