Ahead of the anticipated New York meeting, opposition groups will reportedly convene in Saudi Arabia’s capital city Riyadh on December 7 in a bid to bridge the gap in their positions on the four-year Syrian conflict, according to Saudi-owned Al-Hadath TV channel.

Syria’s President Bashar Assad said in an interview on November 22 that his government was ready to meet opposition in Moscow, which served as the venue for two rounds of intra-Syrian talks earlier this year.

Syrian Information Minister Omran Zoubi said last week that Moscow talks had been postponed due to what he described as differences between factions of Syrian external opposition.
