BEIJING (Sputnik) — This is the second runaway suspect handed over to China to face corruption charges in two weeks as part of President Xi Jinping’s flagship anti-corruption campaign.
"Kuang Wanfang, born 1967, a corruption and bribery suspect who has been hiding in the United States since 2001, was successfully extradited to China and taken into custody thanks to close cooperation between US and Chinese law enforcement agencies," the anti-corruption agency said.
Beijing has launched two operations over the past year – Operation Skynet and Operation Foxhound – to return officials suspected of bribery and embezzlement from abroad to stand trial at home.
Last week, the United States handed bribery suspect Yang Jinjun over to China after he spent 14 years in hiding.
