Moscow Views Nuclear Talks With Iran as ‘Constructive’ – Lavrov
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — Significant progress was achieved at the talks of the P5+1 group and Tehran on Iranian nuclear program in Geneva, Switzerland, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Monday.

"We talked over a number of issues related to the Iranian nuclear program. This was discussed both during a meeting with [US Secretary of State] John Kerry and Foreign Minister [of Iran Mohammad] Javad Zarif. We noted the significant progress that has been made during the talks of the P5+1 with Tehran and discussed the problems that are to be solved in order to achieve the result in the settled term,” Lavrov said.

The West suspects Iran of attempting to develop a nuclear weapon, while Tehran says its nuclear program has a purely civilian purpose. The five permanent members of the UN Security Council plus Germany have been negotiating with Iran since 2006.

The sides aim to reach a long-term agreement, which would ensure the peaceful nature of Iran's nuclear activities in exchange for partial relief of economic sanctions by July.
