Hillary Clinton Leads US 2016 Presidential Election Poll by Narrow Margin

The poll results appear to be more promising for Hillary Clinton than they are for former governor of Florida and younger brother of former President George W. Bush, Republican Jeb Bush, who was supported by 31 percent of those polled.

MOSCOW, December 17 (Sputnik) — Fifty percent of American voters in a new poll would back Hillary Clinton in the 2016 US Presidential elections, making her the likely front-runner in the race, should she take part, a poll by Wall Street Journal and NBC News released Wednesday found.

Clinton, a democrat, led by a narrow margin, as 48 percent of the respondents said they would not support her. The poll results appear to be more promising for Clinton than they are for former governor of Florida and younger brother of former President George W. Bush, Republican Jeb Bush, who, supported by 31 percent of those polled, is the only politician to declare presidential ambitions.

Barack Obama's Republican contender during the 2012 election Mitt Romney, and Chris Christie, the governor of New Jersey, also a prominent GOP member, received 33 percent and 27 percent of the vote respectively.

The poll was conducted by telephone with 1,000 adults of whom 836 declared that they were registered voters. The poll results have a plus to minus roll of 3.4 percent.

Despite the advantage in the polls, Clinton is still far from assured the presidency, NBC News said. Seventy one percent of those asked are looking for a different presidential approach than President Barack Obama's, which could be bad news for Clinton, who served as Secretary of State during Obama's first term.

These results are comparable to a Bloomberg poll released earlier this month. Hillary Clinton was found to be the most favorable candidate, supported by 52 percent of those asked. Romney was favored by 43 percent, while Bush was a preferred candidate for 32 percent of the respondents. In addition, Bloomberg's survey showed that Clinton's term as Secretary of State, her marriage to former president Bill Clinton and her failed 2008 presidential campaign were to be found advantageous by a majority of the voters.
