Security forces detained Thursday one of the sons of Egypt’s former President Mohamed Morsi in Sharqia Governorate, northern Egypt, media reported, citing sources in the police.

AIRO (Sputnik) – According to Al-Watan newspaper, the ex-president’s son was detained in his house situated in the city of Zagazig at the Prosecutor’s Office request on suspicion of incitement to violence during the 2013 coup.

Morsi won the presidential election in Egypt in 2012 to become the first democratically elected president of the country. The following year, he was ousted by the Egyptian military after large anti-government protests against him and Muslim Brotherhood movement.
