"The Fleet’s ability to act in crisis situations related to terrorist threats will be tested during the service tactical exercises," the ministry’s press service said in a statement.
During the drills, Russia’s advanced small-sized missile ships will perform artillery and missile firing exercises in simulated combat conditions, the ministry said.
“The Serpukhov and Zeleny Dol small missile ships, in cooperation with the Russian Navy’s standing force in the Mediterranean, will work out… performing artillery and missile firing exercises in simulated combat conditions,” the ministry’s press service said.
The group’s additional tasks include assisting a vessel damaged from a terrorist attack, intercepting the intruding ship and arresting terrorists on board. The strike group will also organize communication through signaling in accordance with the International Code of Signals (ICS-65), according to the ministry.
The Serpukhov and Zeleny Dol’s return to home base is planned for late August.
