Russia's Caspian Flotilla will hold drills on August 15-20 in the southwestern part in the Caspian Sea, working on responses to military and terrorist threats, the Russian Defense Ministry said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — The drills will have several stages and are aimed at assessing the Caspian Flotilla's readiness and ability to resolve situations, including terrorist-related, that "pose a threat to the country's military security."

"In accordance with the combat training plan, a tactical exercise of the Caspian Flotilla will be held in the southwestern part of the Caspian Sea from August 15 to 20, 2016," the ministry's press service said.
