LONDON (Sputnik) — According to media reports, the UK Royal Navy on Tuesday detected Russian Kilo-class submarine Stary Oskol in the North Sea. The submarine is being escorted by UK Royal Navy frigate HMS Kent and is expected to pass the Strait of Dover later on Wednesday, according to reports.
The Russian Defense Ministry said earlier in the day it would be "strange" if the UK navy failed to notice Russia's submarine as it slowly traveled up-top toward its Black Sea Fleet base, accompanied by a tugboat.
"HMG vociferous over Rus sub's routine passage on high seas: 'Project Fear' at work. Enough room for all to navigate," the embassy wrote on its official Twitter.
