Troops from the National Guard of the US state of Alabama are currently working in Romania on infrastructure and military training projects, the US Army announced on its web site.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — In Cincu, Romania, the part-time soldiers from Alabama are improving infrastructure in order to create a new facility called the Cincu Training Range for the Romanian Land Forces, the announcement explained.

"Alabama Army National Guard Soldiers are working alongside Romanian Land Forces to improve military infrastructure, develop engineering strategies and execute training plans," the announcement stated on Monday.

Romania, a former Warsaw Pact member nation, is now a member of NATO. In May, the US military deployed an Aegis tracking radar and missile interceptor facility there.
