US Deputy Secretary of Defense Bob Work met with NATO officials in Brussels, Belgium this week to discuss the Pentagon’s Third Offset Strategy, the US Department of Defense said in a statement on Friday.

WASHINGTON (Sputnik) — The Defense Department announced the Third Offset Strategy in 2014 as a plan to improve innovation and collaboration with the private sector.

"Work met with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg and ambassadors from the United States' 27 NATO allies to discuss the Third Offset Strategy," the statement said.

Work also delivered a speech at the European Policy Center, emphasizing the need for collaboration between the United States and other nations to defeat terrorism, the statement noted.

Work’s trip comes after a meeting in Sweden where the secretary and his counterparts from the Nordic and Baltic states discussed efforts to enhance multilateral defense cooperation.
