The cabinet of ministers of Ukraine terminated the 1993 military-technical cooperation agreement with Russia at a meeting Wednesday, a minister present at the meeting said.

KIEV (Sputnik) – Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko prohibited any military-technical cooperation with Russia speaking at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council in June 2014.

“We have terminated [the agreement],” Ukrainian Energy Minister Volodymyr Demchyshin said.

Before, the ban did not affect dual-use products such as engines for helicopters that could be used for military and civilian purposes.

Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin said that Russia planned to substitute military equipment produced in Ukraine.
