Russia, China to Hold Joint Naval Drills in Mediterranean on May 11-21
14:15 GMT 05.05.2015 (Updated: 14:20 GMT 05.05.2015) Russia and China will hold joint naval drills in the Mediterranean Sea, involving some 10 warships, on May 11-21, the Russian Defense Ministry said Tuesday.
MOSCOW (Sputnik) — According to the ministry, the main goal of the exercises is "to deepen friendly and practical cooperation between the two countries, as well as to strengthen joint response to security threats at sea."
"This joint exercise is not aimed at third countries, and it has not been prompted by the political situation in the region," the ministry said in a statement.
